Flatteners
Get the most out of your coils with a flattener from Kent Corporation. This entry line machine prepares the strip prior to end welding to help you waste less material.
A flattener will take the coil set (or coil hook) out of the ends of your coil so you don’t have to cut as much off the end. With a flat strip, it can easily move on to being sheared in the end welder.
Most of our flatteners use hydraulics to open and close and feature pinch rolls to drive the material through. Increase mill up-time by adding a flattener to your production process.
Hold Down - Hold Up Peelers
If you need assistance transitioning coils from your uncoiler, a Kent Corporation Peeler can help. This entry equipment can be used in an overwind or underwind application, so the coils can be loaded to come off from the top or bottom.
A peeler is great for medium to heavy gauge lines in which the operator would have difficulty manually handling the strip. If you use 3” diameter or larger mills, a hold down-hold up peeler will improve the efficiency of your processing and improve operator safety. With a variety of peelers that can work across wide ranges of tube mill sizes, we have the machine that can meet your specifications.
Turnstiles
Store coils of different sizes at the entry of steel processing lines with Kent Corporation turnstiles. Eliminate downtime and boost productivity with turnstiles featuring two, three and four arms and the ability to remove rejected coils prior to putting them into the line.
We offer the option for our turnstiles to automatically rotate. We also have options for power push offs to line up coils for loading onto coil cars and powered locking pins to automatically locate arms in the load position.

Uncoiler
At Kent Corporation, we carry a full line of single and double-ended uncoilers for all types of processing lines including roll forming and tube and pipe mills.
Single-arm uncoilers support one coil at a time. A double-arm uncoiler allows you to load the next coil while one is already in use, further reducing changeover time. Both versions of uncoilers have a variety of features and options.
Weight capacities range from 3,000 – 30,000 pounds per arm (or side). Double arm uncoilers that weigh 5,000 lbs. or less usually feature manual rotation and mandrel expansion. With increased weight, the machines go from manual to hydraulic to more efficiently and safely handle the increased weight.
Features
- Manual or hydraulic rotation
- Manual or hydraulic expansion
- Automatic tension control to help maintain tension of the steel strip going into the line
- Powered feed-up drives to help get the coil started off the uncoiler
- Automatic coil depletion detection for automatic tail out on full entry systems
